Lighting Information - Low Voltage Button/Miniature Complete Systems |
 |
|
 |
Q. Are these fixtures UL listed?
- Yes they are UL & CUL listed, you can find listed products at www.ul.com.
Q. What are the differences between the four groups of miniature low voltage halogen recessed lights?
- Mircea Sabie trebuie sa puna tabel aici
Q.What different applications would you recommend these Low Voltage Halogen Recessed Lights be
used in?
- They are ideal for shelving, cabinets and displays etc.
Q. Can any of these fixtures be mounted in a drywall ceiling?
- No, they are only intended for surface mount or recessed cabinet use.
Q.Please explain the mounting options of the Button Lights (HR-86 and HR-88).
- Each button light comes with a shallow back cover, we call a housing. When used as a recessed fixture, you will not need the back cover. The cutout hole size is 2-3/8". (The box that contains the unit comes with a pop-out template for sizing). If installed as a surface mounted fixture, you will need the back cover.
Q. What transformer can I use with these fixtures?
- All of the LOW VOLT BUTTON/ MINIATURE COMPLETE SYSTEMS are UL listed as Class II fixtures and they
require a Class II transformer. Our EN-12PS (hard-wired) and EN-33PS (plug-in) are examples of these types of transformers.
Q. What is a Class II transformer?
- A Class II transformer is inherently limited to not more than 60 watts. It is a low energy low voltage device and considered intrinsically safe. Secondary wiring from a Class II transformer does not require conduit and clamp wiring techniques in accordance with Section 3 of the NEC.
Q. Can I order a frosted lens for the Button Lights?
Q. Can I use a UV lens with the Button Lights
- No - our UV lenses are only available in the standard MR16 and MR11 sizes.
Q. What is the length of the socket lead wire that comes with the Button Lights?
- 72". They may be cut to desired length.
Q. How many Button Light fixtures will I require on 6' run under the cabinet?
- Generally, from a 2' height, a Button Light (or any 20W mini fixture) will provide sufficient light for 22" - 2S" of space. A 6' run will require 3 fixtures.
Q. Can I install an HR-1135 in a drywall ceiling?
- No, the HR-113S through HR-1139 series fixtures are not UL listed for drywall ceilings. They are intended for use in shelving, cabinets, and displays etc.
Q. Do I need to order a housing (can) for the MR11 (i.e. HR-1136) or Mini Flush Lights (i.e. HR-1138)?
- No - they each have a built-in housing as part of the fixture.
Q. Are the HR-1138 and HR-1139 available with a clear glass cover?
Q. Why do the fixtures flicker on and off from time to time when being dimmed
- Check the distance of the last fixture from the transformer. If it exceeds 10' and you are not using a 14AWG gauge wire to extend it to a maximum of an additional 5' or so, chances are they will flicker. The further the distance between the fixture and the transformer, the bigger the voltage drop, and this is what causes the fixtures to flicker.
Q. In a low voltage situation (12V) like a motor home or a boat, would I require a transformer for my fixtures?
- Most RV's and boats operate under 12V. Transformers are not necessary.
Q. I am concerned with a voltage drop in my application. Do you have any guidelines on the subject?
- To minimize a voltage drop and lessened light output, the transformer should be located as close to the fixture as possible. A drop of 5% or less is generally acceptable. The chart below details a guideline to keep the drop below 5%.
