Q.Are these products UL listed?
  • Yes they are UL & CUL listed, you can find listed products at www.ul.com.
Q. How do I decide between which of the magnetic housings to use?
  • You need to first determine whether this is a new construction or a remodeling situation. Then determine if the housing will be in contact with insulation (I/C housing) or not (Non-IC). Next determine your wattage requirements. Check our catalog for dimensions and applicable trims.

    Mirza Dzomba Tabel.
Q.Can the trims be installed without a can or housing?
  • No, you must use a can or housing with the trims.
Q.How do I determine which housing to use with the trim I have chosen?
  • The key is to pick the housing with the same prefix as the trim. An HR-232 trim will require a HR-200, HR-201 or HR-202 housing, depending on the application. We have three basic styles of housings. Each of these styles is available in 3 sizes. The HR-800 is listed for use in cabinets only, the HR-806 is listed for ceilings.

Q. I am concerned with a voltage drop in my application. Do you have any guidelines on the subject?
  • To minimize a voltage drop and lessened light output, the transformer should be located as close to the fixture as possible. A drop of 5% or less is generally acceptable. The chart below is a guideline to keep the drop below 5%.

Q. What is the difference between the Magnetic and Electronic transformer housings?
  • The magnetic transformer housings use a snap-out magnetic transformer that ensures controlled voltage to the lamps, maximizing their life. The electronic transformer housings use soft starting electronic transformers. Their features include automatic reset and short circuit protection. Another advantage is they will generally work with standard incandescent dimmers.
Q. Will any of your low voltage housings fit 2x6 ceiling joists?
  • With the exception of our Insulation Contact housings, all of the Low Voltage Miniature Recessed Series will fit 2x6 construction. The IC's require 6 1/2".
For the Magnetic Transformer Housings, all will fit except the HR-8402HL and HR-8403H. These require 6 W' and 7 1/8" clearance respectively.
